Roscoe “Toot” Lambert VanEmburg, age 89, of Inverness, Florida passed away quietly at home on Wednesday August 19, 2009. A Service of Remembrance will be held at 10:00 AM, Monday, August 24th at the Inverness Chapel of Hooper Funeral Homes with Pastor Daniel Lyman officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 - 7:00 PM, Sunday, August 23rd at the Chapel. |
Toot was born on December 29, 1919, raised in Phillipsburg, NJ, and was the son of the late Richard and Alice (Herwig) VanEmburg. He was a Navy veteran of World War II serving in the Pacific as a Navy Seabee. |
As a long-time automobile salesman in the Phillipsburg area, he worked for Ford dealerships for many years. Toot was known for his basketball prowess in high school and his life long devotion to golf. |
He was a member of Harker’s Hollow Golf Club for many years; BPOE, Phillipsburg, NJ; Floral City VFW Post #7122 and Lutheran by Faith. |
He is preceded in death by his two brothers, Richard and Luther VanEmburg. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Helen; his three daughters, Cheryl and husband Gustav Fichtner of Salzburg, Austria, Judith and husband Paul Carberry of Manasquan, NJ and Susan VanEmburg of Manasquan, NJ; sister-in-law Stella Mount; 3 nephews Ronald J. Mount, Richard VanEmburg and Gerald B. Mount; niece, Joan VanEmburg Fritz; 2 grandchildren Paul Carberry Jr. and Jennifer Carberry Stampe, her husband Joe Stampe and his great granddaughters Alaina, Brenna and Keira Stampe. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to Hospice of Citrus County, 10 Regina Blvd., Beverly Hills, FL 34465. |
