Mrs. Florence I. Bachtel, age 92 of Homosassa, Florida, died Tuesday, October 20, 2009 in Homosassa. She was born August 15, 1917 in Conewago, PA, daughter of the late John and Mabel (Prowell) Reeser.

She was a 1936 graduate of Manchester High School and a 1935 graduate of Thompson's Business School and worked as a book keeper for her fathers trucking firm in her early years. She worked as a cafeteria worker for Susquenita High School for 15 years prior to retirement. She moved to Homosassa from Palmetto, FL in 2006.

Her hobbies included knitting and reading. Mrs. Bachtel was a long-time member of Otterbein United Methodist Church, Duncannon, PA.

Mrs. Bachtel was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Richard, Harold, and Clare, sister, Eva, and 4 grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband of 72 years, Harry T. Bachtel of Homosassa, FL; son, Richard R. (Linda) Bachtel of Homosassa, FL; 3 daughters: Ivalee Deckard (Wayne) Kew of Homosassa, FL, MaryLu (Robert) Bennett of Clearwater, FL, and Elizabeth (Tony) Perry of Astoria, NY; 9 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren.
