The Service of Remembrance for Mr. Boyd Don Hammonds, age 74, of Homosassa, Florida, will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, November 14, 2009 at the Homosassa Chapel of Hooper Funeral Homes with Pastor Joe Hupchick officiating. Interment will follow at Fountains Memorial Park, Homosassa, Florida. Friends may call 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM, Saturday at the Homosassa Chapel. He was born October 19, 1935 in Hartsville, SC, son of the late Henry and Edna (Hatchell) Hammonds. He died November 9, 2009 in Jacksonville, FL. Mr. Hammonds was an Air Force veteran serving during the Korean War.

He worked for the Tampa Fire Department for 20 years, retiring in 1981 as Captain and was Vice President of Benton Express in Jacksonville from 1988 until his passing. He moved to Homosassa, Florida from Jacksonville Beach in 2004. Mr

. Hammonds attended Little House Fellowship / God's Work Ministry, Inverness.

Survivors include his wife, Carrie J. Hammonds of Homosassa; son, James Floyd Barrow Jr. of Land O' Lakes; 4 daughters: Valerie Ramsey of KY, Karen Hammonds of Tampa, Donna Farthing of Summerville, SC, and Jeanette Clancy of Tampa, FL; 2 sisters: Edna Davis of Charlotte, NC, and Kaye Bryant of Little River, SC; 8 grandchildren: Jennifer Harrington, Spencer Ramsey, Shawn Hill, Bryan Farthing, Christa Barrow-Robles, Corey Farthing, Shelby Farthing, and Traci Barrow; and 4 great grandchildren: Tanese Hill, Malachi Hill, Nicole Robles, and Catalina Robles.
