Mr. James C. "Cleve" Wear Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

A Celebration of Life Service for Mr. James C. "Cleve" Wear, age 83, of Inverness, Florida, will be held 6:00 PM, Thursday, June 2, 2022 at the Inverness Chapel of Hooper Funeral Homes with Dr. Douglas Alexander, Sr. officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 6:00 PM, Thursday at the Chapel. The family requests in lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy take the form of memorial donations to The Ginger Porter Scholarship Fund, c/o Citrus County Fair Association, 3600 S. Cleve, as he was known by his friends and family, was born February 9, 1939 in Plant City, FL, son of Julian and Lucille (Crenshaw) Wear. He passed away May 27, 2022 in Inverness, FL. He was a 22 year retired veteran from the U.S. Air Force where he achieved the rank of Tech Sergeant. During his tenure with the U.S. Air Force, Cleve served in the Vietnam War. After his retirement from the U.S. Air Force, Cleve went on to work for his same military unit as a civilian. In 1980 Cleve moved to Inverness from Patrick Air Force Base. He also worked as a boat operator for a water survey company and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Inverness. Cleve enjoyed fishing, air boating, spending time with his family and cooking. His family described him as a "Giver". Mr. Wear was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Kelly Ann Wear. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Lois J. Wear of Inverness, FL, son, Kenneth G. and his wife Lory D. Wear of Inverness, FL, daughter, Pamela S. and her husband Keith A. Jordan of Inverness, FL, 4 Grandchildren: Chelsea K. (James) Carter, Alyssa J. (Joe) Hill, Taylor C. (Lawrence) Becksmith and Paige K. (Jake) Fischer, 4 Great Grandchildren: Kenna Rae Carter, Jacob Dale Carter, Aubrey Claire Becksmith, and Rylee Jane Hill, 3 sisters: Mary Webster of Jacksonville, FL, Peggy Kinard of Fort White, FL, and Chris Jeffcoat of Newberry, FL. Arrangements are under the direction of the Hooper Funeral Homes & Crematory.
