December 27, 1925 - December 7, 2020
Obituary A Graveside Service with military honors for Mr. John Arthur (Jack) Ragan, Jr. who died on Monday, December 7, 2020 in Spring Hill, FL will be held on Friday, December 18, 2020 at 10:00 a. m. at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL. A Memorial Celebration of his life will be held at the First Baptist Church of Homosassa, FL at 1:00 p. m. on Friday afternoon, December 18, 2020. I was born the first time by my parents, John Arthur Ragan and Edna Elizabeth Ragan (Nee Phillips) on December 27, 1925. I was born the second time by God’s grace some 50 years later in 1976. I had served my country during WWII in the U.S. Army Air Corps and received an Honorable Discharge in 1946. Since then I graduated from the University of Southern California and Talbot Theological Seminary which has since changed its name to Talbot School of Theology. Even though I may have done some things worthy of note during my first 50 years, I consider them worthless because none of it would get me to heaven. Only by the grace of God will I enjoy eternity in heaven and not spend the entire time in a place where there is weeping and gnashing of teeth. I have been preceded in my death by my lovely wife, June, who I will see in heaven. Our relationship will be different but we will enjoy Jesus together with many friends. Frankly, as I write this, I am curious as to how it will be to be sinless - a state I have never been in before. I leave behind my sons; Larry, Dale and Joel and their wives, Betty, Linda, and Darlene; my daughter, Sherry and her husband, Jerry; my grandchildren and great-grandchildren. That is the sad part of dying. Death itself is merely the separation of the soul and spirit from the body. Eternal death is the separation of the soul and spirit from God. If someone wants nothing to do with God in this life, then God grants them that wish. He does not want to force Himself on anyone. The problem is, He must choose those He wants to be with Him forever because absolutely no one would choose Him. Every single one of us has gone astray doing our own thing; satisfying our lusts and our pride. All God has ever asked us to do is, to believe Him. That’s it. But He will not believe for us; we must do the believing. All of us choose to believe Satan in one way or another as our initial parents did in the Garden of Eden. God gave Cain every chance to make it right but he chose his way and took the highway. All of us do that. None of us are Christians unless God has chosen us. All of us are heading toward a place God had made for rebellious angels; there is no other place except heaven and none of us choose to go there except on our own terms. Thus, we disqualify ourselves. But God is determined to have a Kingdom with His Son as the King. So, He chose some out of all human life before he created even one thing and draws them to His Son, Jesus, by the Holy Spirit. All three Persons; the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit are One God all having the same essence. None of us understand that, but we accept it by the power of the Holy Spirit. So, what is the difference between a Christian and everyone else? Not one thing except the providence of God that fell on us. We are very fortunate indeed; and I am personally very happy He chose me to love Him in eternity. I hope you are as fortunate as I am. The only way you can tell is to ask Him. Go ahead. Ask. He will answer by either drawing you to His Son when He is ready to do so, or you will reject Him as Cain did. However, the “Abel” you kill will be yourself. Arrangements under the direction of the Homosassa Chapel of Hooper Funeral Homes.
