Mr. Ray Fredrick Day

November 25, 1939 - May 8, 2019

Ray F. “Dood” Day, 79 died May 8th, 2019 in Inverness, Florida. Dood was born on November 25, 1939 in Spokane Wa. to Ray and Helen Day. He graduated from Deary High School in 1958. After high school he joined the Army. He married Joan Olson and adopted her son Randy. They had a son Rick together and later divorced. In 1965 Dood met and married Edith Keefer in Rockfalls, Illinois. There they had son Ray Jr. and moved back to Idaho where they had another son John & daughter Diana. He worked in rock crushing, then for Potlatch Corp. running front-end log loader where he earned his nickname “Disco Dood” while playing music over the PA for the log trucks. After Potlatch shut down company crews he drove log truck for several contractors including Bruce Baumgartner, Bill Lowry, and Ray Day Jr. who he retired from in 2002. After retiring he and Edith moved to Florida where he did his dream job working at Rivard Golf Club. They later divorced. Dood was very dedicated and active in everything he did. He was a life member of VFW and of the amateur trap shooting association. He was also a certified umpire in which he umpired many community softball tournaments. He loved golf ...... anyone that knew Dood knows that he would be out golfing wearing shorts in the middle of a snow storm! Survivors include son Ray Jr. (Kristy), daughter Diana (Sean) Mayo; grandchildren; Rick Day, Taylor Day, Chelsea Day, Dallas Day and Buster (Katie) Burnette. Great grandchildren; Berkley Arocha, Carson & Maverick Burnette. Preceded in death by his parents, all siblings, his children; Rick Day, Randy Day, John Day and grandchild Kori Day. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Deary Ambulance Fund, Kendrick VFW or make a blood donation at your local blood bank.
