Mr. Richard "Dick" English Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Richard English, known to his friends and family as “Dick”, was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, Uncle, and friend to many. He was born in Lansing, Michigan on May 18, 1941, to Cora and Marion English. He was raised on the family farm with his three brothers, Chet, James (Jim) and Terry. He moved to Sarasota, Florida as an adult and met the love of his life, Margery Gail English (Young) in 1968. They married after only a few months, eloping to St. Augustine. They first settled with their family in Livonia, New York where they raised their children before retiring back to Florida spending 53 years together. Dick worked for General Motors and Eastman Kodak Co. from which he retired in 2000. He and Gail, also retired from SUNY NY, then relocated to Homosassa, FL where for the last 21 years, enjoyed retired life to the fullest. They had many good friends in both the north and south and loved to entertain and socialize. Dick was an amazing storyteller; everyone would laugh and cry at the same time over his stories. Dick was a Nascar fan and avid golfer. He and Gail were very active in their community participating in all kinds of social and charitable events and they were also very active members of their church. He is pre-deceased by his wife of 53 years, Margery Gail English who went to be with the lord just 6 weeks earlier on April 20, 2022. Their love was special and they were never apart. He is also pre-deceased by his parents, brothers, and nephew, Terry English Jr. He is survived by a sister-in-law Janet English and her daughter Kimberly Russell (English), his three children, and grandchildren: Jennifer Willison (Bob); Robert Willison (Taylor), Amanda Parcell (Rory) and Alexandra Willison, Andrew S. English (Mary Pat); Emily Knapp (Michael) great granddaughter Finley Knapp, Michael English and Sarah English, Gregory L. English (Wendy); Abigail Larsen and William Larsen plus many close friends, neighbors, and acquaintances. Gail is survived by the children and by her sister Kelley Patricia Kipfer (Young) (Erwin); niece, Kimber DiChario (Tony) and nephew, Kurt Kipfer (Heidi); Zachary Kipfer and Dillon Kipfer. Dick had his 81st birthday on May 18th and spent it with his son Greg relaxing and playing golf and then played 18 holes of golf on Monday with his golf group and Thursday with his daughter, the week before he passed suddenly on June 1, 2022.
